Brazil export buyers guide
A useful Brazilian commodity enquiry connects the material to the process that will receive it. A refinery buying raw sugar, a feed mill buying soybean meal and a roaster evaluating green coffee need different evidence, even when their shipments share a port.
Request a Brazilian commodity quotation — Tell VerdeFlux which Brazilian material fits your process, how much you need and where it will be received. An application-led brief lets the proposed supplier lot, quality file and Santos-to-market plan be discussed together.
Focused buying guides: white sugar · soybean meal.
This guide covers VerdeFlux’s eight Brazilian supply products: raw cane sugar, white sugar, soybeans, soybean meal, soybean oil, maize, green Arabica coffee and green Conilon coffee. It explains the decisions to establish before a commercial proposal: intended use, measurable quality, lot identity, packing, destination and timing. Start with our Brazilian supply catalogue, then use the relevant sections below to develop your requirement.
Why Brazil belongs in the sourcing conversation
Brazil’s export record gives buyers useful context for considering the origin. MAPA’s January–December 2025 summary reports national exports of 108.18 million tonnes of soybeans, 33.77 million tonnes of sugar and 40.95 million tonnes of maize. The sugar figure is the combined category; it does not provide a raw-versus-white breakdown. These are calendar-year Brazilian totals compiled through AgroStat from SECEX/MDIC data, extracted in January 2026 and subject to revision. Source: MAPA’s 2025 trade summary workbook.
Coffee requires an equally careful distinction. Cecafé reports Brazilian exports of 32.308 million 60 kg-equivalent bags of Arabica and 3.995 million 60 kg-equivalent bags of canephora in 2025. Its canephora category combines Conilon and robusta, so that quantity cannot be described as Conilon alone. The bag unit measures trade volume; it does not establish the package size of a proposed lot. Source: Cecafé’s calendar-year 2025 export report, published 19 January 2026.
These national figures describe the exporting origin, not VerdeFlux’s sales, stock or shipment capacity. For a particular purchase, the useful questions remain the same: which material fits your process, what evidence identifies the lot, and how will the receiving operation accept it?
Choose the material and define its acceptance criteria
A product name begins the discussion; an agreed specification makes offers comparable. State the test method, reporting unit and analysis basis alongside each limit. Decide when and where samples will be taken, who will evaluate them and how the approved result relates to the shipment. Where food, feed or another application has destination-specific requirements, include them in the initial brief so the proposed quality file can be assessed against the actual use.
Raw cane sugar: build the brief around the refinery
Raw cane sugar enquiries begin with the intended refining or processing route. Colour, polarisation, moisture and the crop or lot identification help describe the material. A trade abbreviation is useful only when both parties share its meaning; write the underlying parameters and analysis method into the proposal rather than assuming every raw sugar enquiry means the same grade.
Explain which characteristics matter most to your receiving process and whether a pre-shipment sample or independent analysis is required. Agree bulk or bagged movement, the loading method, package construction where applicable and the treatment of net and gross mass. Lot identification should remain clear from the quality report to the shipping marks. Clean cargo space and moisture protection need to be considered throughout the handovers, with responsibilities recorded in the shipment instructions.

White sugar: match the crystal to the application
For white sugar, identify whether the purchase is for food manufacturing, ingredient distribution or repacking. Colour and polarisation help define the agreed quality, while crystal size matters to the buyer’s handling and production process. Moisture, the analysis method and any application-specific evidence should be discussed alongside those fields. Raw and white sugar proposals should remain distinct.
Describe the package that your receiving operation needs, including net mass, bag or liner material, markings and palletisation if requested. A manufacturer unloading directly into a process may have different requirements from a distributor handling individual packages. Confirm how the proposed packing protects the sugar from moisture and contamination, how lots are identified and what condition checks are recorded at loading. Pack size and grade belong to the agreed offer; neither is universal across this catalogue.
Request a Brazilian white-sugar quotation — State the Brazilian product, application, quantity and destination, plus your essential quality requirement.
Soybeans: distinguish crushing, feed and food requirements
The intended use determines which soybean characteristics deserve priority. For crushing, discuss oil and protein information on an agreed basis. Feed and food-processing enquiries may require different supporting analysis and identity controls. In every case, define crop, origin, moisture, foreign matter and damaged-grain criteria so that the inspection file describes the purchase accurately.
If GM or non-GM identity is material to the transaction, set out the evidence and segregation requirements for the proposed lot. National origin alone does not prove that identity. Plan sampling, lot separation and the loading and discharge arrangements together. Confirm bulk movement or other agreed packing against the receiving facility’s capability. An analysis result is most useful when its sample identification, date and method can be traced to the cargo being offered.

Soybean meal: compare nutrition on the same basis
Soybean meal is a feed-ingredient enquiry, so protein deserves context. A percentage reported on a dry-matter basis is not directly interchangeable with one reported as received. Specify the basis and method, then discuss moisture, fibre, residual oil and relevant processing or quality analysis. The receiving feed formulation should guide the agreed parameters.
Confirm whether the requirement is meal or pellets and describe the unloading and storage arrangement. Bulk and bagged proposals have different handling interfaces and should be assessed with the service providers involved. Request the actual cargo information needed for classification and carriage, including condition and any moisture or temperature records required by the operator. Processing form alone does not settle transport acceptance. Link the lot reference on the analysis to the commercial and loading records.
Send a Brazilian soybean-meal requirement — State the Brazilian product, application, quantity and destination, plus your essential quality requirement.
Soybean oil: settle crude or refined form first
Crude and refined soybean oil should be discussed as different requirements. State the intended food or industrial application before comparing offers. Relevant quality fields can include free fatty acids or acid value, moisture and impurities, and peroxide value where appropriate. Define the reporting method and units so that results from different proposals can be assessed consistently.
The transport discussion should follow the actual oil and the receiving system. Confirm the proposed tank, container system or packed format, its compatibility, the operator’s acceptance and the buyer’s discharge equipment. Cleaning and prior-cargo records, where relevant, help describe the equipment proposed for the journey. Handling conditions should come from the material documents and agreed operating plan. A container format that works for one transaction is not automatically suitable for another oil grade or receiving facility.

Maize: connect grain condition to the receiving process
Identify feed or food-processing use, crop and the required colour or type. Moisture, damaged and broken kernels, foreign matter and test weight help describe grain condition, but each needs an agreed method and acceptance basis. Include any destination-specific contaminant testing or quality evidence required by the buyer; a generic threshold should not replace the receiving market’s requirements.
Specify how the receiving facility unloads and stores maize, then assess bulk or agreed bagged movement. Discuss sampling, lot identification, cargo-space suitability and the condition information needed at loading. The quality file and shipment instructions should refer to the same lot and quantity. Where the buyer has a particular processing constraint, explain it early so the proposed material can be evaluated for that use before packing and shipment arrangements are fixed.
Discuss Brazilian maize supply — State the Brazilian product, application, quantity and destination, plus your essential quality requirement.
Green Arabica coffee: evaluate the lot, then the shipment
For roasting and blending, an Arabica enquiry should identify origin or region, crop, processing method, screen size, defect assessment and moisture. Include the desired sample and cup profile, explaining whether your process requires a particular sensory direction or consistency across a blend. Screen size and a descriptive origin name cannot replace an agreed sample evaluation.
Set out the sample approval procedure and connect the sample reference to the proposed lot. Any quality score, certification or traceability claim needs its own supporting evidence. Agree bag and liner details, net mass, markings and the loading arrangement. Clean, dry cargo space and protection from foreign odours deserve attention alongside moisture management. Discuss the expected receiving and storage conditions so the packing proposal fits the complete journey.

Green Conilon coffee: write a separate requirement
Conilon coffee can be discussed for roasting, blending or extraction, with the intended process guiding sample evaluation. Confirm coffee type, origin, crop, processing method, screen size, defects and moisture. Describe the performance your process needs instead of assuming a fixed flavour profile or quality tier. Conilon and Arabica should have separate sample references and acceptance criteria.
Check that the commercial description and supporting lot records identify the coffee being offered. Cecafé’s broader canephora reporting category is national market context, not a substitute for a Conilon lot description. Agree the bag or liner, net mass, markings, lot traceability and container-loading plan. Moisture and foreign-odour protection should be considered at each handover, with any certification or identity requirement confirmed from the proposed supply documents.
Send a Brazilian Conilon-coffee brief — State the Brazilian product, application, quantity and destination, plus your essential quality requirement.
Packing and handling are part of the purchase
Describe the receiving operation as carefully as the product. Record bulk or packaged form, package count where applicable, net and gross mass, loading and discharge equipment, and any pallet or liner requirement. For packaged cargo, agree readable product and lot markings and how the package list will reconcile with the shipment. For liquids, align equipment compatibility and the receiving connection with the operator.
Responsibility for cargo-space checks, moisture protection, securing and condition records should be clear before loading. Container packing can be discussed against the joint IMO/ILO/UNECE CTU Code, alongside the actual cargo documents and operator instructions. That general container guidance does not determine the suitability of every product, tank system or bulk-vessel arrangement.
Select the gateway around the cargo
Santos is VerdeFlux’s commercial base. A proposed loading port should nevertheless follow supplier location, inland movement, cargo format, terminal acceptance, carrier availability and destination. Compare the complete handover sequence and the receiving window; a port name alone does not establish a booked service.
Paranaguá is another Brazilian gateway to consider for a suitable transaction. Portos do Paraná’s first-half 2025 report documents soybean, soybean-meal and soybean-oil export activity. This is port context, not evidence of a VerdeFlux terminal relationship or reserved capacity. Source: Portos do Paraná’s first-half 2025 operating report.
State your destination country and port, the required arrival or loading window and any onward delivery needs. VerdeFlux’s From Santos to Market page explains how product information, packing, inland handover, port arrangements and documents connect.
Build a document file that describes one transaction
Agree the required documents early with the buyer and the relevant service providers. The commercial invoice describes the sale; a packing list identifies packages and their contents where applicable. Product descriptions, quantities, units, parties and shipment references should agree across the document file. Brazil’s official Siscomex export-process guide provides context for commercial and export documentation.
Discuss the transport document, origin evidence where required, and the quality or inspection reports agreed for the purchase. A certificate of origin and a lot analysis answer different questions; neither should be treated as proof of every product attribute. Identify any certification request by scheme, scope and supporting lot evidence.
For plant products, determine the destination’s current phytosanitary requirements and whether certification or treatment evidence applies to that shipment. MAPA explains the relationship between certification and the importing country’s requirements in its phytosanitary certification guide. Confirm the applicable process for the actual product and destination rather than assuming a single document set covers all eight commodities.
Send VerdeFlux a brief that can become a proposal
Include the product, intended use, quantity and unit, quality requirements, destination, packing preference and timing. Add the required analysis basis, sample procedure and documents where known. If a decision is open, explain the receiving process or commercial constraint that the proposal needs to address.
